Hiring the Town Hall, Memorial Hall or Fanny Shaw’s Community Building
The Town Council has several rooms available for hire in the Town Hall and Memorial Hall, and also the Fanny Shaw’s Community Building.
Covid secure measures have been put in place in our buildings, along with special terms and conditions of hire, to keep everyone as safe as possible. The measures include one-way systems and increased cleaning and ventilation routines. The Covid regulations that apply to community buildings are subject to change and we will continuously review both existing and potential bookings to ensure they comply with latest guidance. A risk assessment will be required from all hirers.
At the Town Hall, the Main Hall is a large hall, suitable for a variety of uses – dance, exercise, large meeting space, wedding reception, family parties, musical events, etc, with a maxiumum capacity of 150 persons. Other rooms in the Town Hall – the Club Room/Bar, Ante Room and Council Chamber, are suited to smaller classes/groups. All rooms are available for hire during the day and evening, weekdays and weekends.
The Memorial Hall has a large hall available for hire during the day, evenings and at weekends. Current user groups include dance & exercise classes. The hall is particularly suitable for smaller functions (ie children’s parties).
The Fanny Shaw’s Community Building is a small building comprising changing area, toilet and drinks making facilities, sited within the Fanny Shaw’s play area. The building is for use by groups such as parents, schools, nurseries and not-for-profit groups. Priority will be given to local groups or individuals who are using the park, subject to the terms of the specific terms of hire (below). The building is hired by means of a key loan; users must book with the Town Council office and complete a booking form when collecting the key. For weekend hire, the key must be collected on Thursday and returned to the Town Council office on Monday.
