Stage 1 now complete

The first consultation regarding The Meadows has now closed. The summary document showing the results of that process is available to download here:

The Meadows: Consultation Stage 1: Summary, Results, Analysis

Copies are also available to read in the library.

Following inevitable delays due to the pandemic, the Town Council hope to progress the Meadows project this autumn. We will take the most popular suggestions from stage 1 and filter and finesse these through a second stage consultation, resulting, hopefully, in a selection which can be put out to designers. The resulting design(s) will then be the subject of a final public consultation. The planned timetable for this project can be viewed here: Meadows action plan.

If you are having trouble accessing any of the above documents please email enquiries@wirksworth.gov.uk or call 01629 823408.

March 2021

Last Orders Please…

For contributions to the first stage of the Meadows consultation

Following the interruption of the first consultation regarding the future use of The Meadows in March last year, the Town Council is re-opening the consultation for six weeks from 22 March. Many responses were received in 2020, for which the council is very grateful (you do not need to re-submit if you have already contributed). This extension will allow for submissions by those residents who were unable to contribute at the outbreak of the Covid epidemic.

If you would like to submit an idea for the use of the area, please tell us in 100 words or less by 30 April. You can email:

enquiries@wirksworth.gov.uk     or write to:     The Meadows consultation, Town Hall, Wirksworth, Derbyshire, DE4 4EU

To avoid risk of transmission we will not be distributing/ handling leaflets at this time but an updated version of the leaflet produced last year is available for view here: Information leaflet

The submissions from this first round will be used to help guide the next stage of consultation, which we hope to launch in early Autumn.
