Hiring the Town Hall, Memorial Hall or Fanny Shaw’s Community Building


The Town Council has several rooms available for hire in the Town Hall, Memorial Hall, and Fanny Shaw’s Community Building.

 

The Town Hall

The max capacity is 200 (to include staff/performers/guests) in the whole building, see individual rooms for limits.  Rooms are available for hire during the day and evening, weekdays and weekends (excluding Bank Holidays – which are at the Town Clerk’s discretion and subject to staff availability).

Main Hall is a large hall, suitable for a variety of uses: Weddings, parties & private functions, yoga, martial arts, pilates, dance & exercise classes, meetings,  theatre & music events etc.  Maximum capacity of 150* persons. *see booking form for restrictions.   The Main Hall can be booked alone or for larger events/bookings can be hired as a package with the Club Room, Ante Room & Kitchen (Top Floor).

Club Room/Bar  Smaller room for meetings, classes, 1 to1 exercise classes, or as part of a package with the Main Hall as a bar area (Top Floor).  The room is licenced to sell/serve alcohol from.  Maximum capacities: standing 40, Theatre Style 30, Cafe Style 24, Boardroom 16

Ante Room Small meeting room, education sessions, booked alone or as part of a package with the Main Hall, Club Room & Kitchen (Top Floor). Large events have previously hired the room for a variety of  uses, such as a green room for performers, changing room & a cloakroom.  Max capacity 12 Boardroom style, Classroom 6

Council Chamber, Suitable for training sessions, meetings, formal receptions if hired in conjunction with the Top Floor. The room has a projector and screen (white wall) for meetings. The only layout possible is boardroom due to the large table which can not be removed from the room. Max seats 12 seats around the table and additional chairs can be in the room giving a max 30, standind max 40.

Kitchen The kitchen has a large catering cooker, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and a warmer. Cutlery & Crockery are included in the ‘Catering’ rate for the kitchen. There is a drinks only rate which can be only be booked inconjunction with another room hire. The Kitchen can be booked alone and will be charged at the catering rate.

 

The Memorial Hall

Hall is available for hire during the day, evenings and weekends (excluding bank holidays – which are at the discretion of the Town Clerk) Suitable for parties & smaller functions, fayres, exercise & dance classes, educational talks & smaller perfomances. Please note this hall is not licensed to sell alcohol. Max capacity 100 standing, 50 seated.

Kitchen  The Kitchen can be booked inconjunction with the Hall but not as a stand alone hire.  Facilities include:- Cooker, fridge, instant hot water boiler and limited crockery & cutlery

Fanny Shaw’s Community Building is a small building comprising of a changing area, toilet and drink-king facilities, sited within Fanny Shaw’s play area. The building is for use by groups such as parents, schools, nurseries and not-for-profit groups. Priority will be given to local groups or individuals who are using the park, subject to the terms of the specific terms of hire (below). The building is hired by means of a key loan; users must book with the Town Council office and complete a booking form when collecting the key. For weekend hire, the key must be collected on Thursday and returned to the Town Council office on Monday.

Hiring the Hall

Main Hall

We have  two buildings with rooms to hire on an hourly basis, and the newly renovated Fanny Shaw’s Community Building (FSCB) which is operated on a key loan system.

Town Hall:- The Main Hall is large, suitable for a variety of uses – dance, exercise, large meeting space, wedding reception, family parties, musical events, etc, whilst other rooms – the Club Room, Ante Room, Council Chamber, are suited to smaller classes/groups. All rooms are available for hire during the day & evening during week days & weekends.

Memorial Hall:- the Hall & Kitchen are available to hire for meetings, parties, fayres, events and classes/groups, during the day & evening during week days and weekends.

Fanny Shaw’s:- Community building key available free of charge for use by groups such as: parents, schools, nurseries, scouts & not-for-profit groups holding events on the park.
