Wirksworth Christmas Weekend 2025

Wirksworth Town Council is pleased to support the festive period in the town again this year by supplying the Christmas tree and providing the businesses with Christmas lights.

On Thursday 4th December we will be holding a carol singing event to coincide with the Christmas tree lights being turned on. As usual this will follow the Peace Ceremony which will take place at 5.30pm on Memorial Hall Gardens. We will then gather at the Market Place at 5.55pm and the lights will be turned on by the Mayor at 6pm, followed by the singing of a family friendly selection of carols. On Saturday 6th December and Sunday 7th the Christmas Markets will take place including all the best produce and gifts in Derbyshire plus alpacas and plenty of Christmas cheer! All this along with the Panto at the Town Hall and Santa Specials down at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway (get your tickets for both before they’re sold out).

Stoney Wood

Stoney Wood is Wirksworth’s Millennium woodland planted in the area recovered from Stonecroft Quarry. The land on which the wood is planted was donated by Tarmac Ltd to Wirksworth Town Council. Hiring the Hall

We have two buildings with rooms to hire on an hourly basis, and the newly renovated Fanny Shaw’s Community Building (FSCB) which is operated on a key loan system.

Town Hall:- The Main Hall is large, suitable for a variety of uses – dance, exercise, large meeting space, wedding reception, family parties, musical events, etc, whilst other rooms – the Club Room, Ante Room, Council Chamber, are suited to smaller classes/groups. All rooms are available for hire during the day & evening during week days & weekends.

Memorial Hall:- the Hall & Kitchen are available to hire for meetings, parties, fayres, events and classes/groups, during the day & evening during week days and weekends.

Fanny Shaw’s:- Community building key available free of charge for use by groups such as: parents, schools, nurseries, scouts & not-for-profit groups holding events on the park.
